Checkout at 11am, check-in at 3pm — same-day turnovers are the tightest, highest-stakes clean in short-term rental hosting. Here's how to make them work and what the rush premium actually costs.
A standard turnover has overnight (or longer) breathing room between guests — the cleaner has the rest of the day, or even the next day, to get the unit ready. A same-day turn compresses that into a few hours: guest A checks out at 11am, guest B checks in at 3pm, and the entire reset has to happen inside that four-hour window, on a schedule the cleaner doesn't control and can't move.
A standard 2-bedroom turnover runs $105–$145. The same unit on a same-day rush runs $137–$203 — a 30–40% premium. That premium reflects real cost to the cleaner, not just inconvenience pricing:
Some hosts build a mandatory one-night gap between bookings specifically to avoid same-day turn pressure and its added cost. This trades a small amount of occupancy for a lower cleaning cost and a lot less operational risk — worth considering if your calendar allows it and your market doesn't specifically reward same-day availability.
If same-day turns are a regular part of your booking pattern, though, a dedicated, reliable turnover cleaner (or a cleaning company with multiple staff who can cover a tight window) is worth the premium over the risk of a late or rushed clean.
